Heart Contact.

So my girl asked me if I had a microphone that could pick up my heart beat. A simple DIY contact mic was the 1st thing that popped into my head. I asked her “why is that?”. “So I can listen to you when your dead.” Thats my morbid girl.

I soldered up a piezo buzzer from rat shack & taped it to my chest. I 1st plugged it directly into my on-board TC k48 pres to see if it functioned. It was dominated by an annoying ground buzz, disappointing. I then plugged it into my API A2D/312 in hopes that the trannys would do there job & isolate the buzz. The 312 worked wonderfully. It required all the gain I could give it but cycle buzz wasn’t an issue. Only the cheap piezos self noise was left to deal with. After sitting still for about an hour & some mixing magic I have a nice 42min archive of my heart beat for her. Was a fun experiment.
