(Rant warning)

Finished soldering up/shooting photos of an exciting soon to be released mic mod from microphone-parts.com. This particular mic started as a MXL 990. The capsule got swapped & the PCB/components had a complete make over. The mic sounds wonderful. It’s low-end response is insane. As a quick test before I bring this guy to live in the studio (FYI – this mic is going to park itself in front of my kit for it’s 1st real task) I decided to mic up some hand percussion to see how it performs. I put it side by side with my much trusted Red type-b/R8. The results are as follows.
Just finished wiring up the new 4×12 for the current album in the works. I’m going for a more “Live” heavy performance record this time around. Analog Synths, Bass, & whatever else I feel necessary via amps/speaker cabs in real-time; Something to push my drum performance hard. I’m wanting the transition from studio to stage to be one and the same. Next on the list is the Moog through a 4×10.
So Jon Tidey suckered me into a group buy (doesn’t take much when recording gear is involved) for a “Auralex MudGuard“.
I received a RK-47 capsule from microphone-parts.com & decided to upgrade a beat-up ole NT2 that has collected dust. Great sounding capsule. I ran a quick comparison vs my Red R8. I set them up on equal sides of fender deluxe cone & noodled down some keys.
