600 ohm termination?

600 ohm termination?

Have an older piece of gear that calls for a 600ohm load (1176, LA-2A, API, etc)? Interfacing it with modern high input impedance gear? You need to terminate.

All it takes is a simple resister across its output. I like to create a simple little XLR pigtail for this task. Strap a 680r across pins 2&3 and call it a day.

  • It would be wise to check whether or not your said piece of vintage kit hasn’t already been modded with a resistor soldered across the jack terminals inside the chassis. This is where most techs put it.
