Another experiment in my world of recording while hitting things. Trying out the Remo Powerstroke 3 clear on kick batter, with a Black suede on reso (No hole). Re-orientated the kit with the Racks & Floors to my hard left and right. Made room for optimum hat/cymbal ergonomics. Have some new cymbal additions under the mic – 15″ K Sweet Hats, and some K custom special dry’s scattered about. Loving that line.
I’ve been meaning to set up various ambient mics around this facility for some time now (19 years or so). I have some drum tracking lined up to record and finally got around to giving this a go beforehand. I set up a basic Kick/Snare/Hat kit and six different mic locations. Some more successful than others. The video cuts between the mic setups to showcase the results.
Some Sunday Synthesis. Hooked up some box’s. Glitched out a drum loop recorded last week. Noodled on the Rhodes, & the A4 is supplying an elec kick, 303ish bassline, a clap, and CV for the Arp noise/snare. Fun times.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted any drum geekery. Trying out some new mic options before laying down some drum tracks for @youshriek . I recently got myself a @heisermanaudio H47 and quickly acquired a 2nd from the same batch. Trying them out as drum overheads. I’m pleased. ..
I’ve had this Quantec QRS XL laying around & I felt guilty it wasn’t getting used. Without the control software, you can only use the factory presets. The last thing anyone wants is another computer making noise in your Continue reading →
I recently got into a debate that triggered a call for analysis. Are lunchbox PSU’s/Shielding drastically different between products? Curiosity got the best of me and had to find out. I use three different manufactures myself API, BAE, & RND. Being all respected brands I wasn’t expecting to see drastic differences. Two of three have built-in PSU’s and thought that might have some impact.
I’ve created a handful of noise/artifact clips with the intention to liven-up digital video production. These have been captured from various vintage & modern video decks. Some you can use ‘as is’, others with the green content should be KEYed out in post.
